You see articles every once in a while about some amazing technology from science fiction that became reality. It usually takes many years for that to happen, but it goes a bit faster when the pressures of the marketplace bear down. Last year, Think Geek posted an April Fool’s Day product that drew so much interest, they had to turn around and make it.

Yep. This unusual shirt was originally a joke product for April Fool’s day. But after your overwhelming positive response and hundreds of e-mails screaming to “make the damn shirt already” we went ahead and made the damn shirt… please enjoy.

200_personal_soundtrack_shirt.jpgThe Personal Soundtrack Shirt has an embedded speaker. Then there’s a control pad that allows you to turn on appropriate sounds to accompany your daily activities -and a pocket to keep it in. The shirt comes with ten music themes and ten sound effects. There may have been some licensing issues with the songs in the original April Fools Day video, so Think Geek’s finished product enables you to load your own MP3 files with your SD memory card. After all, what is life without Yakety Sax? The components are removable so you can wash the shirt. See a video of the real shirt in action.

$39.99 is a pretty good price, considering how many people spend $25 for a souvenir shirt with no special effects.
