I like Goldfinger’s cover of “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” better than Joe Jackson’s original. It’s much more syncopated and sounds more put-together.

“Redemption Song” by Bob Marley has been covered by Santana, Rihanna, Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer, Aaron Lewis, Chris Cornell, India Arie, Pearl Jam, U2, Annie Lennox, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Stone Temple Pilots, The Chieftains, Ian Brown, Guns’N Roses, Wyclef Jean, etc. Easily one of the most covered songs on YouTube.

I think that one of my favorite covers that I like better than the original would be “Dancing Days” covered by Stone Temple Pilots, originally done by Zeppelin.

The Stones’ version of “Satisfaction” is a cover — Otis Redding wrote it and performed it first.

The best cover version is The Residents, IMHO…

Okay, this might have already been said, but The White Stripes’ version of Joleen is…words can’t describe how awesome this song. Dolly Parton just made the song too happy but Jack White takes the song and adds all the angst and emotion that it needed, and the fact that its a song about a woman stealing someone’s man makes it just that more amazing. My mother, who is a huge Dolly Parton fan even said that The White Stripes did a better job.
