I first saw D14 when I was 7 or 8 years old and realized photgraphs could be art.

REM and The Futureheads mention him in song.

R.E.M. wrote “It’s a Man Ray kind of sky,” in the song Feeling Gravitys (sic) Pull.

The Futureheads have a song entitled Man Ray, which mentions him and contemporary photographer Edward Weston in the lyrics.

And, of course, there’s an indie band called (say it with me) Man Ray.
