I'm an avid trail runner, and I've often wished I could attach a first-person/third-eye camera to record my favourite routes. It would be neat to show other people what my perspective is. And I also thought that when I was an elderly woman, too old to run around in the woods anymore, it would be nice to revisit the past, and see those trails from that point-of-view once again.

This gives me an idea for a sci-fi story. Whaddya guys think?

GOVERNMENT FORCES ALL PEOPLE TO BE IMPLANTED WITH "THIRD EYES" FROM BIRTH TO CUT DOWN ON CRIME...

But one day someone discovers how to safely remove/switch off their omnipotent Third Eye. Romance ensues.

You've got a point there. Recalling is a storage-retrieval problem. You have to have both to really "remember" a scene.
