Someone above mentioned The Fabulous Moolah. Interesting fact I'm not sure how I know: she was the youngest of 13. And the only girl. With 12 older brothers, how could you NOT grow up to be a pro wrestler?

This one predates the WWF, but "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff retired to a little town in North Carolina. That's not his real name, and I believe he's actually Canadian. I know his family ran a nursery (the plant kind, not the child care kind) as of a few years ago. My dad and uncle used to buy plants from him for their landscaping business. He was apparently a super nice guy, and they remembered watching him on tv growing up. They always got a kick out of talking to him.

Realtor must be a popular trade for ex-wrestlers. Jim Neidhart is doing it as well, at Airdrie just north of Calgary.

Bad News Allen was also in Airdrie working as a security guard at a mall up until his recent death.

Andre the Giant was a family friend of my fiance's. His grandmother was a nurse at the hospital near Ellerbe, North Carolina where Andre lived and was being treated during the later part of his life. They struck up a friendship, and I believe he even attended a few family barbecues. Everyone who met him describes him as shy, gentle, and a very pleasant to be around. But the way I understand it he was generally in a lot of pain due to his gigantism. It always makes everyone sad to talk about him, that was just how much they thought of him.

You are partially correct but I feel I must amend one of the wrestlers profiles.
Nikolai Volkoff, he still wrestles! He just did three shows for us, at Devastation University in Pennasuaken NJ, If you really ever want a true to life history lesson of who is where and who did what you could always come down to our gym and pick my partners brain (Doc Diamond) or send him a request on his myspace page.

Honestly I don't know if he fits into this era, but, "THE CLAW" Baron VonRashke, was a substitute teacher at my school. He was pretty laid back and not crazy like some subs get. He showed us a few music videos he was in (Psychodelic Furs and another one I don't remember). Mr. Rashke was one of the good subs.

I went to a time share sale in Las Vegas and met one of the commentators I watched growing up from the WWF. It was surreal knowing I used to see this guy as a kid interviewing some of my favorite stars and now he's sitting in a chair across from me trying to sell me a time share. For the life of me I can't remember his name though!
