Graphic artist Jonathan Jarvis created a visual rundown of the factors causing the economic meltdown. The two-part animated video is the simplest of the many explanations I’ve seen.

With more than 100 questions, filling out the Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA) is the hardest part of applying for college. Some families pay for help, while the neediest families just give up.

The hardest part of filling out FASFA for me is getting my parents to do their taxes before my school deadline.

I haaaaate filling out the FAFSA every quarter. You struggle through the damn thing for days just to get a $200 HOPE grant. woohoo.

I think quitting filling out the FAFSA just because it’s slightly difficult is pretty pathetic. I did it for four years, I had no problems. All you need is the numbers on your tax forms and simple addition/subtraction. 2/3 of the form is background information. People are just lazy.
And I know this is going to get flack, but if they’re too stupid to figure it out, maybe they shouldn’t be going to college!!

The credit crisis video is super! Sure it takes around 11 minutes but it makes a lot more sense than the talking heads on cable news.

What Cassie said. I have a “Childhood was Tough” sob story that will match anyone’s. College was free because I sat down and filled out some forms. One year of income in trade for one day of paperwork? Get real!

The FAFSA only made me mad because it forced me to use my parents tax information even though I hadn’t lived at home for years. The punishment of not being able to get any sort of aid because you are deamed to make too much money because they use your parents income even if you have had a differant address for 2 years.
Other than that, it basically is copying your tax forms. If people can’t figure it out, then it makes me wonder about people who are going to college these days. Doing it only takes like, 2 hours, at MOST.
