RE: #3 - Yes, Mr. Perot is hardcore, but he did not walk Bill and Paul out of the prison; there was a riot that day and the prison was broken into; they simply walked out on their own and went to the hotel where the team was staying. My father was a part of that team, and he spoke about the bedlam that occurred when they came walking in the room. Perot DID visit them in the prison, despite being a very wanted man in Iran; the details are in "On Wings of Eagles". My husband and I had the privilege of having lunch with Mr. Perot last year, he is an amazing man.

I ran into Mr. Perot one time while working for EDS in Texas. I was walking down the hall to get a drink out of the machine and ened up walking right next to him. He was very warm, personable and really pleasant to talk with. He even went and bought me a soda and thanked ME for talking with him while looking me straight in the eye! I have always admired him as a result of this and always will.

I voted for him then, I would vote for him now. This country needs to be put on a sound financial basis.
I think that a proven businessman like Mr. Perot could do the job. Hy only worry it that IU\ doubt that he could get his initiatives past the self- serving politician in Washington.

that is a really sweet story lisa!
and as an accountant for an aircraft maintenance company, i agree that there must be a typo on those $250 mil jet engines. could be $250,000, $2.5 mil seems more reasonable, depending on what kind of jet we're talking.

I know someone that Ross Perot and his fabulous wealth helped back in the 80's. I briefly dated an Army vet who very nearly lost his leg (and his life) in the invasion of Panama. The majority of his calf was blown off as he was parachuting in. He joked that he was only in Panama for a few hours. They stabilized him but were worried he would lose his leg. He was sent back to the states to have multiple surgeries at various civilian and military hospitals. My friend was a Texas native and received visits there from then governor George H Bush and Barbara as well as Ross Perot, in the sort of photo op hospital visits you see all the time now. When Perot found out that my friend was going to have to travel back and forth out of state for surgery he offered up his personal jet. He flew my friend on a personal jet staffed with Perot's own employees and kept in touch with both my friend and his parents throughout. I've always been deeply impressed by the way he treated my friend, a stranger, simply because he felt it was the least he could do to help a fellow Texan who'd served his country.

I'm thinking maybe that was supposed to read "$250,000" jet engines? I'm inclined to believe that a single $250 million engine would beat the pants off of any civilian helicopter.

Two $250 million jet engines? Don't think so. That's more than the cost of two 747s. He may be crazy, but he's not stupid.
