I&#039;ve often wondered the same thing. (I&#039;m sure Sandy can vouch for the fact that your question is frequently asked.)

I&#039;ve decided that this is something akin to having to voice your Jeopardy responses out loud, even when you&#039;re the only one in the room paying attention to the show (guilty). You want it to be known that you knew the answer, but you don&#039;t want to call attention to the fact that you crave the recognition. Basically, it&#039;s covert bragging for someone who would be ashamed to be caught overtly bragging.

Like you, I should clarify that this may not apply to Roger in particular. For all I know, maybe his browser can&#039;t display italicized type, and he&#039;s just being helpful.</description>
