Nice tale about Dracula tour offer but is nothing true. Try to get more details before making such presumptions. I know that the Americans are crazy about this story which is pure fantasy. Try to read real books about the world history not fantasy.

There’s not even a shade of danger in visiting Transylvania, except, perhaps, the local villains (burglars, pick-pocketers, and the likes of them); it’s nowhere near as dangerous as Ukraine or… Puerto Rico… or most African countries.

Does anyone else find this to be a game of “which of these things is not like the others?” Transylvania is pretty easily to get (Romania in general is pretty easy to get to). It is easily one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to … but I’ve been to it :-) and I’m in no way “an adventurer”.

I have a friend who is from Sudan. He is in the United States, but all of his family is still in Sudan. Very sad, the things he tells me. For him, I would like to travel to Sudan, and see the sights. But I would also be very fearful.

My mom is from Colombia and she says it’s beautiful! It’s amazing how a 3% increase in crime is reflected in the media, when it’s another country. Reagan started all this in the 80s. Now we just default to old “knowledge.” Sad.

Travel to Sudan would certainly be adventurous but by spending money in that country one would also be supporting a government that has (at best) turned a blind eye to genocide in Darfur.

I have wanted to go to Iraq and/or Iran for some time. I’m a huge history nerd and fascinated by other cultures. While I highly doubt I’ll make it in the next several years, possible in my lifetime, it’s kind of reassuring to know that the possibility is there……
