Where’s Warren Buffett who runs Berkshire Hathaway, a business invested in life insurance estate tax shelters, and takes his salary as capital gains and has a business policy to defer taxes perpetually? Only $39 million of a projected $3 billion marginal increase in net worth last year was even exposed to taxation.

Capitol L: What does paying your taxes–something we collectively decided through the Democratic process–have to do with snitching to the secret police? That’s an horrible analogy.

In this country you are certainly allowed to criticize or question the “regime.” It was the right of Liberals to point out what a lousy president Bush is, just as it’s Conservatives right to make up utter nonsense about Obama.

No one questions that right.

But to say “This is the greatest country on Earth and I want it to stay that way…but I don’t think I should pay taxes to do so…” that’s not just stupid and selfish, it’s also UNPATRIOTIC.

It’s funny to me that the same right-wingers who declare America “the greatest country on Earth” are also the ones who piss and moan and whine and complain about doing their CIVIC DUTY to pay their fair share of taxes. We are the greatest country on Earth…I believe strongly they are correct in that…but we great in large part because of people (like me and most non-whiners…which is to say liberals) that pay their taxes without complaint. The roads, hospitals, emergency services, and so forth that are the backbone of this country are paid for with tax money.

It’s the rich people telling the mouth-breathing sheep (see: teabaggers) about fallacies like the 861 myth that are truly leading this charge. THEY don’t pay their taxes because they are greedy, selfish and arrogant. It’s just a shame more people in the heartland don’t grow a functioning brainstem and learn to ignore these ignoramuses.

@Justin – yes the Supreme Court ruled that income taxes were unconstitutional. They also ruled that black people could not be citizens (Dred Scott v Sandford) and that segregation was legal (Plessy v Ferguson).

I wouldn’t look to the Supreme Court of the US as the best upholder of right and wrong.
