Technically it was released before Deep Throat, but Deep Throat was the first widely released porn film. BtGD was released in a single theater before DT, but DT garnered the wide release and associated notoriety before BtGD.
Interestingly, these were both preceded by a gay porn called “Boys in the Sand” that gained a mainstream reputation almost two years before “Deep Throat”. If I’m not mistaken, it was even reviewed in Variety.

Behind the Green Door was released before Deep Throat.

Crocostimpy, it isn’t just you. Insatiable is a much better film than Behind the Green Door. It’s just that BtGD was Marilyn’s first adult film and the hype surrounding the Ivory Snow girl made it a monster hit.
Insatiable wasn’t released until 1980, 8 years after BtGD. By that time, Marilyn was a well-known adult star, and the “porn chic” era had already begun to fade.

I thought Insatiable was better then Green Door, but that’s just me.
