Five high-school students – who play the guitar, drums, harmonica, bass, and saxophone - recently decided to get together and form a quintet. (Yes, I know it doesn’t make sense to have harmonica and sax… but hey, it’s not my band.) Anyway, the five musicians practice each day after school, and have dubbed their band The T-Five since they each adopted names that begin with the letter T. The three boys are Telly, Tommy, and Tubby, while Taffy and Tippy are the two girls.
Based on the following clues, can you determine which member plays which instrument in the band? Good luck!:
1. Both Tommy and the bass player sing prominently, since both can sing and play at the same moment.
2. Tippy truly appreciates the convenience of being able to carry her instrument in her pocket.
3. Taffy does not play a stringed instrument. Neither does Telly, who is not the drummer.
nice….easy, but a nice start to the day. You ever think about doing a 4 X 4 logic puzzle for the Brain Game of the day? it would take a little longer, but it would be a little more challenging.

Sax AND Harmonica? It must be a blues band!
I keep looking for the Mental Floss publication of the “Brain Game” book by Cerebral Sandy Wood. Any chances of that happening?

Ian, I’ll try to do more of those if I ever get the time to compose them. Those more complex ones take a while to get just right.
And you’re exactly right, Jack… they’d kinda blend together in spots, huh? I almost mentioned that in the text. I originally had different instruments (keyboard instead of sax) but had to change them a bit to develop clues.

I hate to think of the awful parents who named their kid Tubby. So cruel.
