You’ve probably read them all, but do you still remember their names? You’ve got three minutes to prove your Potter prowess.

Take the Quiz: Name All 7 Harry Potter Books

If you have a great idea for a timed quiz, leave us a comment under this post. If we use yours, you’ll get a free mental_floss t-shirt.

  1. How about all the Beatles albums? You could have your choice…original Capitol records or EMI cd releases! (Beatles geek here).

Or how about all the James Bond films? Or even better all the Ian Flemming novels (Bond or otherwise!)

  2. How about all the Star Trek movie names. There’s quite a few of those.

  3. EIGHT SECONDS! Great Scott, I’m cool.

Beatles albums would be good, too. :D

  4. How about naming all the baseball players mentioned in Abbott & Costello’s “Who’s On First” routine?

  5. for the first book, i was under the impression that it had a different wizardly figure in the title, and amazon agrees :/

  6. Hurricane names might be good… perhaps in the order of destruction level, or consecutive years, something like that.

  7. Name all of the Summer (or Winter) Olympic Sports in 3 minutes. I guess the Winter one would have to be done in 2 minutes since there are fewer…

  8. I think to name all of the X-Men would be a great quiz. It could be a two parter with one one being the actual X-Men and the other quiz could be the Brotherhood quiz.

  9. Here’s another idea: How many Schoolhouse Rock videos can you name?

  10. I second the Beatles album quiz. You should do the British releases, because that was the original cd release. Also, if you wanted to make it harder, you could toss in the extra albums (Ie the anthologies, the past masters discs, Beatles 1, let it be…naked, etc)

  11. lu, I think you’re probably thinking of the UK version of the book, which does have a slightly different title than the US version. The quiz should accept both answers, but I’m guessing since the floss is US based they just put in the US name. Bummer for the Brits.

  12. Definitely have to agree with the Beatles albums… or perhaps name all of their songs that hit number 1 or something.

    How about Shakespeare’s works?

Or name the 12 Olympians (Greek & Roman). Or the labors of Hercules. The Muses & the Graces? (I’m a classical mythology nerd)

Did you already do the 7 wonders of the ancient world?

  13. I’m annoyed… I wasted a full minute on that quiz trying to get it to accept “Harry Potter and the” before the name of the book. How about either allowing the FULL name to be accepted or explaining that you don’t need “Harry Potter and the?”

  14. Dang that “Azkaban”! I must have spelled it 72 different ways before landing on the right one. :}

  15. The first book was released with “Sorcer’s” in the title and also “Philosopher’s.” Both should be acceptable in the quiz. It took me half a minute to figure out why the title wouldn’t take!

  16. Dana and I think that you should do a name all the Watchmen quiz!

  17. How about a longest running/most grossing Broadway musical or play quiz?

  18. Name all Chronicles of Narnia books..

  19. More of a typing test than a quiz, really.

  20. FYI — The quiz does accept the answers every way you want to give them, provided they’re spelled right.

    “Harry Potter and the…”
    “Harry Potter & the…”
    “and the…”
    “The…”
and just the unique part (”Deathly Hallows”)

It also accepted Sorcerer’s Stone AND Philosopher’s Stone for #1. Not sure why a few of you had problems but I just triple-checked to make sure.
