Even on a Monday, you can’t escape ”Poems Wot I Writ.” Here’s my newest. Can you decipher this rhyming riddle? Good luck!

They’re long and they’re sharp
And cycloptically scary
But tack on an “S”
And they’re unnecessary.

What are they?

Here is the SOLUTION.

  1. Ha. That was cute. I got it right away as soon as I read it through. Good way to start the week. Good Job Sandy.

  2. It was almost like word association, needless popped into my head as soon as I read unnecessary.

  3. Nice one! I love the phrase “cycloptically scary”.

Got it by working backwards from synonyms for unnecessary.

  4. What about nails? Add an S, and it becomes snails.
I’ve always found them to be pretty useless.
Stupid snails with their stupid slime trails mucking up my garden. Useless, I tell ya!

  5. Got it! But check it, if you add an S to the front instead of the back side, you get Sneedle. Sneedle was the Space Needle’s official mascot. Why they needed a mascot, who knows? But since they apparently no longer use it, further evidence that it was unnecessary.

  6. Ha! I got “Sneedle” as well. Does that count?

  7. Good one, thanks Sandy.

  8. is it supposed to be spelled “unncecessary” instead of “unnecessary”? there’s an extra c..

but aside from nit-picking, good one. :)
