We take it for granted that the weights and measures we use now will be around forever, but they might not be. Here’s a quiz testing your knowledge of archaic, obscure, and obsolete units of measure. Once you’re done, reward yourself with a butylka of beer! (Don’t worry…that’s only 624 ml in obsolete Russian terms.)

  1. with an impressive 83%, i believe i’ve found my calling!

  2. 9 out of 12… not bad at all! And I didn’t guess on any of the ones I got right! Believe it or not (even though its a REALLY old term) my Great Grandmother who was born in Cork, Ireland used to measure out flour and sugar and oil and things telling me how many ‘eggshells’ worth to use instead of tablespoons or 1/4 cups… She died at 106 years old still riding her bicycle every day.

  3. What a fun quiz. I learned a lot from the answers.

  4. 8/12! And the only ones I knew were the cubit and faggot! Woo!
