The Late Movies: Cinco de Mayo
by Mario Marsicano - May 5, 2009 - 8:00 PM

Welcome to day two of our Late Movies experiment. Today we get in the Cinco de Mayo spirit!

First, Joanne Colan of Rocketboom gives us a brief history of the Mexican holiday.

And so, since Cinco de Mayo is a commemoration of the Mexican defeat of the French, I present the French taunting scene from Holy Grail.

Now let’s celebrate! Two words…pinata bloopers.

Next, what happens when a baby eats a habanero pepper?

It wouldn’t be a party without a Chihuahua race.

And we’ll end with Birdie the chihuahua singing “Take On Me.”

  1. The one about the baby and the pepper is so not cool. Shouldn’t that be considered abuse?

  2. I got distracted by the Python stuff. After the Taunting French, I watched the Holy Hand Grenade, The Spanish Inquisition, The Hungarian Phrasebook, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,

  3. Agreed on the baby one. Think the kid is going to have trust issues?

I (and probably everybody) has gotten a laugh out of a kid with a lemon slice, and yes, a first experience with something mildly spicy can be amusing provided the kid is old enough to understand what’s happening and is in on it. But this is a world apart in my view. A habanero just seems really cruel.
