Yesterday I asked our Twitter followers for a little help putting this quiz together, and in five minutes I had enough material for five quizzes. So a big thanks to everyone who pitched in. Now, let’s find out what you know about the college experiences of fictional characters from TV and the movies. And if your alma mater can boast of a notable fictional alum, leave us a comment.

Take the Quiz: Fictional Characters, Actual Colleges

Comments (13)
  1. I went to Berkeley. In addition to Kevin Costner’s Field of Dreams character, we have Jack Bauer, Dr. Yang on Grey’s Anatomy and Doc Brown from Back to the Future. That foursome is going to be tough to beat!

  2. My favorite fellow Brown alum is Brian, from Family Guy. Elliot on Scrubs (the one who was the second Becky Conner on Roseanne) is another.

  3. I’ll be attending Cornell in the fall. I Googled “notable fictional Cornell alumni” and found some great ones. Here are two:

In 30 Rock, Fat Balls, a potential addition to Tracy Jordan’s entourage is studying hotel administration at Cornell University.
    * * *
In The Simpsons, Sideshow Mel attended Cornell.

  4. Will & Grace went to Columbia! (I did not. Just throwing it out there.)

  5. Sarah – also, Andy from “The Office.” He mentions it in almost every episode.

  6. Oh, maybe I should’ve taken the quiz before I read the comments.

  7. Don’t forget that House and many people from the Dharma Initiative are Michigan alums.

  8. “So why are you here, CJ?”
“I made fun of Notre Dame.”
    *entire press corps winces*

  9. How about a real classic? Ozzie Nelson went to my alma mater, Rutgers.

  10. Considering I took educated guess on most of these, I’m SHOCKED that I got a 92%.

  11. House (and Cuddy) went to Johns Hopkins, not Michigan. Only TV doctors come from my alma mater.

  12. Hmm, I’m pretty sure Meredith went to Dartmouth Med, not undergrad. I could be wrong. :D

And no one cool went to my school, since I’m in high school. Sigh.

  13. @JennA: House went to John’s Hopkins but then got got thrown out for cheating (see episode, “Distractions”). When he transferred to Michigan, that’s where he met Cuddy (see episode: Humpty Dumpty).
