I’d like to know the first time they realized, as Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hit streak was happening, that it was something special. Was it when he reached 25 or 30 games?

Just for perspective, that Walkman that cost $200 in 1980, would cost $516.28 in today’s dollars. Kinda makes an iPod look cheap, doesn’t it?

Love this feature! Especially the early internet stuff, like nytimes.com. How about looking at some original book reviews, like Great Gatsby and Ulysses? Did the reviewers recognize the calibre of the material? (Or did they understand Ulysses at all?)
