Mr. Rogers Goes to Washington

In last night’s Late Movies video round-up, Mario found a real gem. In case you missed it, this clip is from 1969, when Mr. Rogers went before the Senate to plead for a $20 million grant for public broadcasting, which had been proposed by President Johnson but was in danger of being sliced in half.

    I have recently taught poetry to fourth graders through an internship as a graduate poetry student at Colorado State University.

    This video has really brought things home for me. Mr. Rogers was so wonderful. I cried watching this.
