9/12 – one of which is my Alma Mater – Elon. Per the school’s website, Fightin’ Christians was first used in 1922. Additionally, it lists June 1, 2000 as the official date of change to The Phoenix. It happens to coincide with when Elon made the jump to D-I athletics.
