I know I just posted on how people have made weapons from LEGOS (with both a bit of awe and apprehension), but how unbelievably sad is it that this idea of bulletproof textbooks actually makes sense in these times? Proposed by Bill Crozier, a retired veteran and candidate for Oklahoma State Superintendent’s Office, the notion would be to create kevlar lined textbooks to prevent Columbine-style attacks from taking even more lives. The whole idea of kids wanting to take other kids’ lives is so utterly depressing. Anyway, you can read more about Bill and the specifics of his proposal here. Link via TheRawFeed
Sadly, you post this today as an elementary school in Miami reports shots fired. The full story isn’t out there yet, but it appears that the kids are okay.

wouldn’t it be cheaper and better protection just to issue each student body armor?

Or how about this, what if we took more time like we used to with our youth and try to better understand kids of all ages so that when they are feeling distraught, upset and so on they KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS there emotions instead of just acting on them.
Lets get back to the basics IT TRUELY TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD, you may say we don’t live in villages anymore but think about what makes a village and then lets start modeling our children to be the best in the world not just there home or neighborhoods.

i say a select group of children chosen for their proven obedience, superior moral standing in the absence of adult supervision (verified by covert surveillance), with demonstrated acuity and aptitude, be trained in counter-school-shooting-tactics and secretly inserted into “at risk” school districts. discuss.
