Our mutual friend Clifford told me he rode in the Back seat to Mass. from St. Pete with a case of wine and never got out of the car, drinker, well maybe a little. I first met him while drinking a beer in solitude at a USF hangout when peanuts started landing all around my mug. That was normal, in the setting of the day.

He wrote in PAINSTAKING detail of these games in Desolation Angel. Describing entire games in a play by play fashion that he was making up in his head. I've read these pages many times and have oft considered them to be some of the most incredible pieces of beat literature ever written. This would explain how much work went into those seemingly forgotten pages. Amazing.
