That feels like an odd qualification of “making a difference.” It DID make a difference! It changed the entire course of American history! Just because the assassination was not a positive thing, you can’t deny that America would be a very different world today if Reconstruction had been led by Lincoln instead of Johnson.

Great list! I never understand the commenters who write on posts like this and mention the people who weren’t written about. Just thank the man for his work! He didn’t say it was a ‘complete’ list. Just a list. Besides, I’d rather have a list of people/things that are a bit more random so I can learn something new.

PS. I knew you weren’t an American writer with the phrase “in hospital” – one of the phrases I’m struggling getting used to in NZ!
