Ted Mann never declared bankruptcy and he and Rhonda Fleming did not divorce. Gulf and Western purchased Mann Theatres from Mr. Mann and they then sold half of their interest in it to Warner Brothers (Time Warner/AOL) and operated under the name "Cinamerica" . Weststar purchased it and that corp. declared bankruptcy prompting Paramount (Gulf & Western) and Warner Bros. to get Mann Theatres back and operate it under the name "W.F. Cinemas".
Thought you should know.

Please visit FACEBOOK.COM where you will find a photo of my Great Uncle, John Tartaglia. He was one of the cement artists, after Jean Klossner. Kindly add his name to this website so that he may receive therecognition earned for his work and part in making Hollywood history. Please do so in honor of him and his surviving family. Records were somehow lost or forgotten and books that were recently published regarding the footprint ceremonies FAILED to include his name, even though they included his photos in the book.
Thank you, Dan Ferrero
P.S. Please contact me via my website if you have any questions. I am trying to resolve this matter while his son, My Godfather, is still alive with us.

Kitty, if you reread the article, you'll see that Stacy correctly identified the photo of Fairbanks, Pickford and Grauman. And she didn't claim that Talmadge was the first footprint, only that that's the legend that has been widely reported--and even Grauman told conflicting stories later on.

The photo where you mention Norma Talmadge is not of Norma but of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford. Also Norma was not the first footprint. I have read that her's was the third or fourth - can't remember, but not the first.

A notable name missing was Roscoe Arbuckle, who was discovered by Sid's brother, David, and who got his start working for Sid. Unfortunately, by the time Arbuckle's contemporaries were putting their feet and hands in Sid's forecourt, Arbuckle had been blacklisted (and the blacklist was officially lifted), but he still wasn't welcome by many in Hollywood.
