What is beautiful about Dodger Stadium is that it was state of the art for 1962, beautifully and carefully preserved in the dry Southern California air. So the Mid-Century style of the ballpark which is now so popular as "retro-modern" lives on without even a suggestion that it should be replaced. I love Dodger Stadium!

It is for that reason that as far as the new ballparks, the only one I am really drawn to is the new Target Field. Like Dodger Stadium, it is state of the art for its time, not trying to look old and worn in when in fact is new. It looks beautiful.

Dodger Stadium will always be number one.

Second goes to Camden Yards. They got everything just right and Pickles Pub is across the street. I was there for both the last game at the old Memorial Stadium and the first game at the Yard. For the Minor League version try LeLacheur Park in Lowell, MA - home of the Lowell Spinners. It is very much the same park on a smaller scale.

Third is Fenway. The most authentic - crowded uncomfortable seats, some with obscured views, and it looks and smells like they've been playing baseball there for 97 years. Oh wait, they have... :D

Stacy, Since you are in Iowa it would be worth your while to go to Kansas City to see a game at the K. I go there once a year for a game and it is truly a fantastic park. Plus its close to you. Of the 19 parks I have been to, Kauffman is right near the top. Wrigley and Fenway are both great and Coors is sub-par.

Camden Yards is my personal favorite. I grew up with the Metrodome but this is the last season for the Twins there. Next year, they move back outdoors to Target Field, which just happens to be based on Camden Yards.

I figured there was a loophole in there somewhere! Thanks for the info! You'd think he'd switch numbers in honor of Jackie. Is he the only player left wearing 42?

@Spike - they grandfathered Mariano in since he was wearing the number when they decided to retire it. So once he's done, no more #42!

Spike: anyone who wore 42 before MLB retired the number was permitted to keep it, but no one will get it in the future.

Coors Field and Camden Yards are the best I've been to so far. Is Jackie Robinson's number retired from all of MLB or just the NL? Mariano Rivera from the Yankees wears 42.
