Haha, I guess I'm not as romantic and well versed in fairytales as I thought. I missed a lot of those, and I've even read most of Aesop's fables :(

13/15. I read most of these as a kid, and the copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales my closest friend gave years ago still sits on my bookshelf to this day.

15/15 - my college folklore classes paid off!

There are some very disturbing variations on the "Cinderella" story. One (also collected by the Brothers Grimm) is called "Allerleirauh" and is like a hybrid of "Cinderella" and "Snow White." The big difference is that Allerleirauh's father wants to marry her. In "The Cat Cinderella," the main character plots with her governess to do away with her evil step-mother.

The original Cinderella by the Brothers Grimm was called "Ashputtle"
The step sisters were beautiful (but ugly on the inside)...she doesn't have a fairy godmother, but rather asks the hazel tree above her mother's grave...her slippers aren't made of glass, but rather spun gold and silver...there are three nights she dresses up for - not just the one ball - and the prince pursues her all three nights. One of the step sisters cuts off her toes, the other her heels, to fit the slippers, and the prince takes each one - only to have doubt cast by some talking doves....At the wedding, both sisters have their eyes pecked out by birds. The REAL Grimm version is way better than the Disney version.
