Is Liam Lacey’s quote incorrect? I had originally thought that was describing Men in Black, but then I realized MiB came out in 1997, not 1996.

80%–got Be Cool and Blues Brothers 2000 mixed up. Never saw Be Cool, but its review fit exactly my sentiments for BB2K–10 minutes in, I was screaming, “Please make it stop!”
