I find it absurd to say that Communists were coming to arrest Deunov for teaching Christian Mysticism all the while siding with the Allies. SERIOUSLY biased, irrelevant, and fabricated jab at communism.

Am I missing something? According to the article: “Itâ€™s uncertain whether the about-face was the result of Loulchevâ€™s appeal to Borisâ€™ conscience, the power of Deunovâ€™s advice, or the pressure he discovered he was receiving from other top Bulgarian officials.”

While it’s possible that Deunov had something to do with the reversal of the decision, I don’t see where it says how he “saved Bulgaria’s Jews.”

The last dynasty in Bulgaria was a German one, from the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Another unsung hero of the time is Sir Nicholas Winton His actions saved over 600 Jewish Czech children from certain death. A recent CBC doc celebrating his 99th birthday had the surprise appearance of the grown children or their descendants. Very moving
