The US Attorney in “Absence of Malice”, kicking ass, taking names and setting them ALL straight, dealing out the justice.

@mama9cats: I don’t get the controversy either. What’s so weird about the pronunciation?

I might say ‘dya-a-Beet-eez’, or ‘dye-a-BEET-us’ just like Wilford or prolly more a bit of a trans-continental hybrid of the two myself.

But then I grew up living all over the damn place, so what do I know.

How would the anal-retentive standardized elocution enforcers on the intertubes prefer that everybody else pronounce it, exactly?

One of Brimley’s best roles was in a sleeper called “End of the Line”. He and Levon Helm portray small town railroad workers who take on the corporate evil doers who are trying to take their jobs away.

Why?? That’s the only way I ever heard it pronounced when I was growing up; maybe it’s a regional thing. Most everyone I know pronounces it that way.
