I am alittle concerned about your comment regarding sensationalism and wonder if you read the article. it really appears that this person was trying to document the lives of the family and the role of poverty. it is strange that you talk point out sensationalism when I am fairly sure that you also posted a link to a number of photos showing economic depression and hardship in other cities and with other groups and mentioned nothing about sensationalism there.. Is it because this family is white, or because of their rural roots? Just wondering.

  5. Chris, I’m a bit close to this one because Letcher County is right up the road from where I live. I first saw the magazine article, which left a feeling that this is quite the dysfunctional family. Then later I was surprised to see the rest of the photo shoot where they seem rather normal.
