GreenPrints (subtitled “The Weeder’s Digest”) is a small quarterly literary magazine geared toward gardeners (or those with dreams of being gardeners). Beautifully illustrated, a variety of articles from humorous to touching to even educational – I love to “spread the word” about this one.

I agree with Smithsonian and also like Nat’l Geo. But for relaxation I get into Games and love reading Voice Of Youth Advocates for work.

As a full-time cruiser, subscriptions are awkward for me but I do get Knowledge – a BBC magazine. It makes great on-watch reading and it doesn’t matter if it sits at the mail forwarder for a couple of weeks before I get it.

I love bust magazine it’s so fem positive and has great articles on up and coming music artists, comics and authors plus cool diy projects.

Being a person that subscribes to far more magazines than I can read in a month, I have read my fair share of monthly periodicals and these are my current recommendations: 1) Virginia Living, a great oversized bi-monthly magazine whose contents provide both an excellent culture and travel overview of life in the Commonwealth of Virginia and an informative look at its history that can appeal to both the seasoned VA resident and newcomer alike, 2) Cloth, Paper, Scissors, an excellent craft magazine with projects that combine artistic creativity with affordability, 3)Washingtonian, the bible for anyone living in our nation’s capital, chock-a-block full of cultural, political and historical features and local haunts tidbits.

Parabola magazine would be my second choice. I let my subscription lapse a couple of years ago, but it was always an enjoyable read. Sort of a look at spirituality and myth across cultures that I found palatable despite not being a particularly spiritual person.
