It’s only June, but our Chagrin Falls (Ohio) office is already gearing up for the holiday season. Part of that gearing up is clearing room for all the new t-shirts we have up our sleeves. To free some shelf space, we’ve put certain t-shirts on sale for $12, such as “Beethoven: The Original Deaf Jam” and “Kinetic Energy: Pass It On.”
To see all the $12 shirts, visit the Outlet section of the mental_floss store. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. So order now or you’ll have to make your own “Karl Marx: Sharing Is Caring” shirt.
Ok, so being the huge nerd I am, I have to say that my favorites are the Pythagoras Math Team shirt, and the Kinetic Energy shirt (I own the latter already…) but I have to say, shouldn’t the Pythagoras shirt read “Pythagoras Math Team it’s hip 2b^2″? Oh, and also, the shirt reminds me of a particular song by Hewie Lewis and the News….

Hannah – 2b^2 is not part of the pythagorean theorem, but b^2 is. (a^2 + b^2 = c^2)

Hannah is kinda right, but only if “a” and “b” are the same, then 2a^2 or 2b^2 is okay. What are those called, isocolese? I can’t spell… don’t want to google.
I think she meant it as a pun, as b^2 is a pun of “be square,” as in “it’s hip to be square”), so to continue the pun, she’s suggesting the “to” to be “2″ instead.

I really wish I could get one of those shirts but I’m too tall and they don’t come in my size.
