Brain Game: Body Works

THE SOLUTION:

FLESH > FRESH > FROSH > FROTH > BROTH > BOOTH > BOOTS > BOLTS > BOLES > BONES.

NOTES: “Frosh” is used collectively for freshmen (like “soph” is for sophomores). Shirley Booth was best known for her role as TV’s Hazel. Nancy Sinatra scored a hit single with the song “These Boots are Made for Walking.” The San Diego Chargers are nicknamed the “bolts” due to the lightning bolt emblem on their helmets.

  1. hmmm.. this was kind of cool… but strangely unsatisfying…

    Like Diet Mountain Dew…

  2. …or decaf coffee, Kevin?

  3. Yes sandy… the clues were intriguing on the surface but left me feeling empty… Like hearing Megan Fox be interviewed.

  4. Lame… Come up with a new concept for your games. We are tired of repeats.

  5. Thanks, Austin & Austin. (I presume that’s who the “we” are… the ones that are tired of repeats.) Considering I’d never done a puzzle like this before with the clues, I’m surprised.

I’m open to suggestions for new puzzle ideas. (Saying it’s “lame” is an opinion, not a suggestion.) We’re here to have fun, y’know.

  6. Sandy, these puzzles are always fun, IMHO!

Having the clues, again, IMHO, changes things up a bit and allows for some more esoteric word choices. Although, I will admit, I did get hung up on Chargers, as I am not a football aficionato, but, up to that point, it was aces in my book & still is!

    Keep ‘em coming!

  7. Austin, speak for yourself.

Sandy, my favorite games you do are these word ladders, and quite frankly, I’m glad you had the clues on this one. I tried to be extra smart and do it without using the clues, but definitely had to peek…

  8. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the word ladder this way. The word ladder puzzles at first I was against, mainly because I wasn’t very good at them. I’ve grown to like them a lot, and this form was very cool. Nice work!

  9. I liked this because I actually could get it. I never have luck without the clues.

  10. I liked this a lot! I’m not patient enough to do the regular Word Ladders, so this was nice, and not lame at all.
