While Burma did officially change its name to Myanmar, the name ‘Myanmar’ is not recognised by the US or UK, because it is associated with the ruling junta, whereas the pro-democracy movement in Burma prefers ‘Burma’. Some people think your choice of moniker for the nation is an indication of your political sympathies, although that would probably overestimate the knowledge of most people on the subject…
