In January of 1960 two men climbed aboard an experimental deep sea bathysphere and dived to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. It was the first (and last) time human beings ever traveled to the deepest part of the earth’s oceans -seven miles down!

There was plenty of stress in the 19th and 20th centuries, and people were happy to throw everything nature and medical science could provide to relieve it. That included cocaine, heroine, opium, amphetamines, and of course, plenty of alcohol for all ages. (via the Presurfer)

  1. Excuse the trivial ramble but “Excessive Weddings” reminds me of the wedding of a millionaires daughter that I was invited to many years ago. I cruised into the country club parking lot in my brown and rust encrusted twelve year old Dodge Dart and parked it between a new BMW and a Lincoln, and nose to nose with a Mercedes. While walking away I purposely turned around to take a look at my little “Daisy” sitting there among the fancy shmancy(pretentious) cars. (haha)

  2. I’m so glad the moon landing wasn’t covered by modern news. They show 30 secs of the landing and then…on to our opinions!

I LOVED Wolf Blitzer beaming in Armstrong. That was great!

  3. the rap thing was weird. except for the nations where white are not the majority like asian and middle east and middle european nations all of the rappers were white. i used to live in germany and we had MTv in german and from england, and they had good black rappers.
