We are thrilled that the "Oak Park Public Library Warrior Librarians" took first place in the 2009 annual competition! The music chosen for the winning performance is Richard Wagner's "Die Walküre" ("Ride of the Valkyries") performed by the Budapest Concert Orchestra conducted by Tamás Gál. Ask at your local library for the complete version of "Die Walküre."

My in-laws showed me an article on this (I'm an MLS student) and I LOVED IT. One, like John Ison said, it changes the images of librarians. They have lives and a sense of humor. Two, one thing I've learned after attending various conferences for work is academics in general are not nearly as stuffy as we like to think they are (many enjoy a good cocktail after a long day of sessions and like to joke/gossip/complain just like the rest of us).
