I’ve quit a few jobs in my time, and it’s always an awkward process. I’m relatively certain that videotaping these events would only have made them more awkward, as it certainly did for these YouTubers, most of whom seem downright proud to be entering the ranks of the unemployed.
There’s no better way to quit, I think, that to the tune of Thus Spake Zarathustra.
This guy strips to the waist while quitting his supermarket job, then gets banned for life for the premises. A few NSFW words are uttered, as it’s a heated affair.
Why do so many job-quittings involve some form of stripping? At least he gets a round of applause.
I swear I’ve seen this lady somewhere before …
Quitting over the phone or by email is for the weak!
Finally, one of the best “I quit!” scenes in modern cinema — from Joe vs. the Volcano.
I like the quitting scene from Half Baked!!!

Aw, man…now you got me wishing Palin would have stripped, and had “I QUIT” painted on her torso. That would have been interesting.

Host Chuck Barris ended NBC’s run of “The Gong Show” (NBC canceled the show) by performing “Take This Job and Shove It” and flipping off the camera! Yeah Chuckie Baby!

Addie: Half Baked was the first one that came to mind for me as well.

Twenty years ago there was a lady at my office who retired. When she went up before the assembled crowd at her going away party, she turned on the song “Take this job and shove it” and proceeded to do a VERY Elaine-style dance while shooting management the bird. Would have loved to have gotten that on tape. She was a pistol.
P.S. Really tacky to have included Sarah Palin in this group. Wish you’d take out the politics and try to remember that not everyone is a Palin-hating Liberal.

I worked for a cell phone company in the uk a while back (I worked in billing…imagine the fun).
We’re all working away when suddenly, one of our co-workers stands up on his desk pulls his shirt over his head and shouts ‘NIPPLES’ at the top of his voice.
Why??? Because if you quit your job in the UK you have to wait for 6 weeks before claiming unemployment, but if you’re fired, you can claim it right away.

gotta love the UK… rewarding you for getting fired (in a manner of speaking). too funny, zack r

Fran – I see nothing tacky about the inclusion of Gov. Palin in the list. The article takes no political stance; it simply states that these are videos of peopl quitting their jobs. Which she did…on video; a fact that is just as true if you are a republican as if you are a democrat. There are no comments in the article deriding or lauding those people who are featured. It is simply presented for your viewing.

That first video is from the Nostalgia Critic. He is hilarious but NSFW. Everyone can check out his unique brand of humor at thatguywiththeglasses.com!

Sean O. – Yes it’s true that all the videos are of people quitting their jobs on video; however, the difference is that the others are personally filmed as a joke. Sarah Palin’s was captured by a news station and not meant as a joke. Including it in this list of joke resignations, the writer is clearly making it a political statement. IMO

But Fran, Sarah Palin IS a joke.

Indeed, Fran. Palin is a HUGE idiotic waste of time joke.

Oh, and you don’t need to be a ‘liberal’ to dislike Palin. Just an intelligent, aware, human.

Dawn – That’s your opinion and I’ll respect that we differ in our opinions. Try to do me the same honor without subtly implying that I’m neither intelligent, aware, or human.

Quitting a job you hate easily makes you want to take all your clothes off and dance…I know I did when I quit my last fast food job…never again!
BTW, Don’t judge Sarah Palin fans, they get sucked in, shes creative enough to keep the sheep listening to whatever shes talking about. If you don’t know any better she sounds pretty intelligent. lawl.
