Kopi Luwak is so expensive because the entire process of finding the civet droppings and cleaning them is very labor intensive. If you saw what the raw dropping looked like you probably wouldn’t want to try it!

That’s a fossa, not a civet. Doesn’t eat coffee beans. Lives in Madagascar. Also, civets aren’t cats. For the record.

I’ve been seeingthose civet coffe being sold locally, but I never asked the price. I doubt it’s as expensive as you say.

So, if your coffee tastes like crap, it may actually taste like…crap? Interesting. Not sure how I feel about paying extra for the true fecal taste experience.

I am a coffee roaster who currently carries India Monsooned Malabar. If you get some, brew it in a press pot to get the bean’s fullest flavor and brine (yes, salt). You don’t taste the salt in the coffee itself, but on your lips afterward. It’s quite unique and wonderful!
