Razna, there are so many cryptids to select from that I limited this post and probably the next to ape-men, just to keep it at a manageable level. There's also Animals that Only Bite Tourists. http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/7777
But I will keep your suggestion!

I'm SO-O disappointed the dog-headed man is missing from this list. Not to mention the half-people, you know, the guys who have to go about hopping on one foot, because that's all they have? Marco Polo tho't he was going to run into them on his way to Cathay, since that monk said he had (Giovanni di Pian Carpini or whatever). Let's hope these critters make it onto List Number Two, for all our sakes.

Actually, the photo in the orang-pendek is a bonobo with a wig, not a chimpanzee. They do look similar, but are different species.

I've lived in the South almost all my life, and I have never heard of the skunk ape, but I was trying not to laugh at my desk bc that sounds like a very southern name.

I don't know what your source is, but no one describes orang pendek as having red hair. Might be confusion about the "orang" in the name, which means "person" rather than having anything to do with being red or orange. Also, the image that goes along with your description is just a chimpanzee with long, blond hair. Cute and funny but it has nothing to do with descriptions of orang pendek. This kind of bad information just contributes to the lack of clarity about and the lack of seriousness given to animals that might actually exist.
