Mr. T was about to get onto the bar above a dunk tank and Charles Haid (Renko from Hill Street Blues) started yelling, "Can we get a crane or a derrick or something here? I'm serious, when that man goes in the water with all those chains we're going to need something to get him out of there!" I used to love watching the celebrity roasts. Too bad todays roasts are impossible to watch because it's just a contest to see who can get bleeped the most. George Peppard in his turn at the podium said that the T in Mr. T stands for Tiffany's. Little known bit about Mr. T on the A-Team--the gold around his neck was fake. Mr. T said that it was a pain to put it all on each day and wear it around, but by that time it was part of his persona so he couldn't just stop doing it. The prop department made a one-piece mockup of his gold and it made playing his part much easier. The really scary part of this is I remember watching it when it was first on.
