It should be noted that one of the Voyagers returns back to Earth around the time of the events surrounding Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It also gains some form of destructive consciousness.

What about the Venera missions to Venus? Venera 7 landed in 1970 and transmitted data for 23 minutes before it failed.
