bigolecatfish.jpgYou can keep telling yourself there are other fish in the sea (or lake, or whatever); but they’re probably not as big as this one. According to The Daily Mail, Carl Smith and Dave Jones landed a new European record when they caught this 8 ft long, 226 lb wels catfish in Spain. The beast took more than 90 minutes to reel in, and the pair has nicknamed the dead fish Jaws. Click here to read more. Link via TheCellar.

  1. Those 2 men are smiling a bit too much about having a giant bottom feeder in their laps.

  2. Wow, what kind of bait did THEY use?!

  3. Christ on a crutch!! At 5′ and 100 lbs, that thing could swallow me absolutely whole!! I’m gonna have wicked night terrors for a month.

  4. Carl Smith and Dave Jones? Are you sure these are real people? I usually use those names when i am entering a name on a pop-up add, they are like Jane and John Doe.

  5. Wow. Two humans managed to kill a large and majestic animal for no good reason. Hooray!

  6. thats pretty good imagery ,,,good enough to over dub their laps

  7. If you think the fish was big, wait till you see the size of the hush puppies that was served with him.

  8. If you think the fish is big, wait till you see the size of the hush-puppies served with it!

  9. I appreciate the accomplishment, but I think I have to agree with Alex. Unless they intend on feeding a large amount of people, they killed something that made it this far and deserves to live on. I fish myself and have no problem with eating what I catch or respecting the same with others.

  10. I wonder how many fillets that thing made? They should donate that fish to a homeless shelter or something. That would be an excellent meal.

  11. Killed the fish, why? Defending themselves, hungry? or to kill just to kill. Shame on those two.

  12. hopefully they can this monster! We canned catfish we called “Suckers” back home, came out great ! Tasted very nice on a clod winter’s day . Happy fishing folks, and bonne apetit!

  13. in responce to the first comment its not a bottom feeder its a predator fish it will eat in the middle layers often.
