Documentaries I Like: The Greenmarket: One Farmer’s Story

Documentaries I Like

Are you into farmer’s markets? I love them primarily because you get fresh, local food — but it’s also great because you can actually interact with the people who grow your food. Below is a brief documentary (under ten minutes) about one farmer, Rick Bishop, who brings his goods to a the Union Square Greenmarket in New York City. It’s a nice look at both the farming experience and the farmer’s market experience — and it makes me want to go and buy some produce right now.

Warning: starts with an ad! This is not a Kraft-sponsored documentary, though the first five seconds makes it seems like it’s gonna be. I take that back — I think this is a Kraft-sponsored documentary, given the in-film “sponsored by Kraft” message at the one-minute mark, pointed out by an astute viewer. So, take it with a grain of salt. (Or Kraft salad dressing.)

  1. I’m confused…you said it is not sponsored by Kraft, yet at the 1:00 mark, there is a Kraft Dressing presents info. They are involoved somehow….

It is an awesome documentary. I want to see more!

  2. Wait, you’re right — this DOES appear to be a Kraft-sponsored documentary. Either that or they bought some REALLY effective ads in there. I’ll edit the post to reflect this.

  3. oh! 28 seconds in. She’s good, but can she link it to Kevin Bacon?

Yeah, that production quality is far too good to not be sponsored, haha.

They stressed the relationship between the buyer an seller quite a bit, which is a very important part of business. Speaking from experience, customer service has to be second to none, and treating your customers with respect, and even as a close friend can really grow business. Like the documentary said, you can learn what the customer wants and needs, and supply them with it.
