It was the first indication that not everybody was enamored of the "All-American Boy" image of Garvey. Quick correction of a post above: Buddy Ryan wasn't the head coach of the Oilers when he punched Gilbride on the sidelines. He was the defensive coordinator and Gilbride was the offensive coordinator.
