‘Tis What Season?

While driving through my hometown of Denville, New Jersey (The Hub of Morris County), my wife pointed out this sign. Since we’re big fans of inappropriate quotes, I circled back and she took a picture.

As a vocal supporter of obscure holidays, I was compelled to look into this “National” Egg Salad Week. While it exists, it ended eight months ago. Maybe the proprietors of this bagel shop are just getting people in the egg salad spirit in advance of next April, the way the mall puts up Christmas decorations in October.

I’m pretty sure egg salad won’t keep that long.

  1. There is a bank in one of the towns which ring Minneapolis that has the greated use of inappropriate quotes. Their billboard reads:

    Your Hometown “Financial” Institution!

  2. I happen to live in Denville and we all laugh about this sign! It went up last year and they never took it down. BTW – we call these guys the BAGEL NAZIs! Best bagels aroud, though.

  3. I worked for some time at the Memphis Rock and Soul Museum and we had a room dedicated to the civil rights struggle.

On one placard, there was a photo of a man carrying a sign in a march following Dr. King’s assassination and it read: The Nation “Mourns” Dr. King.

It cracked me up EVERY F*CKING DAY!!!!

  4. Glad to hear there’s a _floss fan in Denville.

In high school, I worked at the A&P near this bagel place. During my breaks, I’d either hit up Pavolo’s Pizza of grab a bagel. One time the bagel guy whipped $200 out of the register and demanded I sell him my Morris Knolls varsity jacket.

I did not return to their store again until summer.
