Fantastic article! I recently read about the shark skin in an artilce about biomimetics in Mechanical Engineering magazine and about the toucan in National Geographic. Most facinating to me is the whale fin. What God hath wrought!

Putting something on the leading edge of a wing to break up the air flow is nothing new, they’re called turbulators. Been around at least since the 70’s.
