My friend’s dad was on the gurney in a hospital corridor waiting to be rolled into the operating room to have one of his lungs removed. He begged my friend to scoot him outside for a quick smoke prior to surgery.

I’ve heard stories about an old man who works in the office building in which my museum is housed. He smoked 5 packs a day and got lung cancer. He upped it to 6 packs cause he couldn’t handle the stress of having cancer.

That’s just sad. My sister who is a nursing student told me she’s seen people who are on oxygen that light their tanks on fire and burn themselves pretty badly because they can’t stop smoking. I’m with n2y2-I’m glad I never started.

Yikes! That is a scary addiction.

I can just see the recovered cancer survivor thinking, “Lets see, Smoking or death? What should I do?”

Glad that I listened to those cheesy ‘Be smart, don’t start’ ads.
