The Late Movies: Printer Smashing

Did anyone see Extract this weekend? I’m going this week, and if it’s even a quarter as good as Office Space, I’ll be happy. I’m a big Mike Judge fan, and his brutally realistic portrayal of the soul-sucking hell that is the office cubicle makes that flick one of my all-time favorites. In honor of that classic, I offer several fans’ attempts to duplicate one of the best scenes…smashing the printer. (Might want to turn the volume down a smidge…a little NSFW—but if you’re still at work at 10pm, you might want to go outside and film your own version.)

Nice attempt, but I don’t remember one of the guys wearing khakis.

You gotta love the guy trying to duplicate Samir’s accent.

OK, this is original. One of the guys is like five years old.

Here’s another.

This may be my favorite. Very nice work on the heel stomp.

And the original.

  1. Don’t forget the South Park rendition from the Surfin’ Bird episode! A quick google will pull it up (one site had the Hulu episode queued up to that scene). Classic.

  2. Love it!!! This is my favourite scene from that movie. I get such a good laugh from watching it (and my boyfriend gets a good laugh watching me enjoy it). I love that the movie has such a cult following.

  3. South Park, Tony? I believe it’s Family Guy. See link.

  4. “PC Load Letter, What the f*ck does that mean?” spoken by Mike Bolton. This is an actual error message of a printer at my own office. The machine still chugs along and I have a slight temptation to get it a beating out in the field. One of these days. But for now, I’ll settle for the above clips of others taking out their rage. Thanks for the morning entertainment.

P.S.; Save Extract when it comes out for rental. You’ll be better off if you watch Office Space instead. There’s no counterpart to the printer smashing scene if your wondering.

  5. Awesome.

Every one of those bashed up printers and every one newly bashed for a few meager seconds of repeat YouTube giggles can no longer be recycled and are destined, along with all the toxins they carry, for landfill.

    Awesome.

  6. Geez sorel, lighten up! Haven’t you had the urge to smash up an office printer that’s been giving you problems (much less even seen “Office Space”)?

  7. I had a manager of mine do that to his computer- totally trashed. We laughed all the next day at work “windows crashed” passing around the photos of the trashed desktop computer. Great stress reliever. Hey, do you honestly think that printer or computer would EVER see a recycling center- get real. I’ve seen and heard of so much “recycling” that ends up in landfills because of lost reycling market value.

  8. BTW I LOVED Office Space and cheered out loud during that whole scene.
