There’s a fascinating piece on the Duba lions of Botswana in the Daily Mail. Check out the intro:
“Marooned on an island, this group of lions should have died out. Instead, in an evolutionary twist, they’ve learned to swim and become strong enough to tackle their only prey… giant buffalo.”
Strangely enough, the article goes on to say that the buffalo have actually flourished in response to the lions’ predatory attention?! Crazy how nature works. Link via ThePresurfer.
“a diet of protein-rich buffalo meat has led to the development of huge muscles”
Really? All muscle meat is protein rich. It’s more likely to be exercise instead of snoozing all day.
“two sets of adult twins — identical lionesses which often give birth to cubs at the same time, and always hunt together.” Dirty girls!
This is a fascinating article, though. I’m looking forward to seeing the TV show. Despite the Daily Mail being probably the worst of the English tabloids, the story manages to escape the butchery.
