From Jan, a link to the highly addicting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game online. No need to wait for others to hem and haw over obvious answers while you scream at your TV, and you still get the lifeline options (which are more helpful then on the actual show). Can anyone win $1 million? I can’t get past 50,000 so far.

Need something to watch this weekend? Take some inspiration from this list of the 20 best animated movies ever. Though these lists are always highly debatable and somewhat arbitrary, I mostly agree with their choices (especially because it’s not totally Disney/Pixar dominated … although they have quite a few!). (Thanks Sarah!)

So apparently, Al Franken can draw the U.S. from memory. Can’t be that hard, right? The writers and some readers from Lemondrop do their best attempts and make me wonder … it must be harder than it looks! If you want to make your own attempt, send it to me and I’ll post it next week!

Is this the Best News Blooper Ever? Probably not, although it is pretty funny. Remember kids: always pause after introducing yourself before launching into a strange news story.

Is it already time to start thinking about Summer blockbusters for 2010? Hold on to your seats for … Facebook – The Movie! For now, check out this “exclusive” storyboard peek, as performed by appropriately un-emotive Playmobile toys.

Craigslist has a never-ending supply of goods and services as well as, well … freaks and the bizarre. Regarding the latter, here are 20 of the craziest postings on Craigslist.

This is an old link that came up again, but it’s just so funny I have to re-post: “Reporter Finds Fake Bear Is Better Than the Real Thing.”

According to this video, there are other, more “personal” advantages to buying a Prius besides environmental ones … although I’m dubious!

For those of you who, like me, might have had a stressful week, Fail Blog always makes me feel a little bit better about myself and hopefully it will work for you, too! (unless you’re on it … in which case let us know!)

Thanks everyone as always for the great link finds! Keep sending them in to FlossyLinks@gmail.com. For more links and oddities throughout the week, I am on Twitter. Have a great weekend!

  1. “Frankly, I do not know what this is, but if anyone can figure it out, let me know!”

If you click on Disclamat it tells you exactly what it is.

  2. Re: Animated movies

I must be the only person on earth who thinks that Toy Story 2 was one of the worst movies ever. I’d rather be stabbed through the eye than have to sit through that again. And I loved the original!

P.S. Is there a Mental Floss post in which readers are asked “Is there any movie everyone else seems to love, but which you can’t stand?” If not, I’d love to see that question posed to the readers.

  3. Real life haunted places, Bobby Mackey’s music world-I read in an Uncke John’s Bathroom Reader that someone has actually sued them over a ghost “punching and kicking” him in the restroom. It was dropped b/c you really can’t get a ghost to testify in court.

  4. I tried out for Millionairre a couple of years ago after a taping…totally rocked the test, got to interview with some producers….and then got a letter in the mail saying I wasnt chosen. They were kind enough to send me a free t-shirt though…

  5. I too tried out for Millionaire back in 2003. I wound up acing the 30-question test, but for some strange unfathomable reason I wasn’t chosen to be a contestant…

  6. I was able to draw the US from memory at 10… my mom actually liked to show it off – which after a while got to be embaressing. Even as recently as a year ago, before she retired from teaching, she asked me to “perform” for her class (mind you I am 33 now). :-)

  7. i won the online game-the final two questions were about the technique used on the mona lisa (sfmuato) and the name of vitruvian man. thanks, high school art history!

  8. There are no “real life” haunted places. I’m sure Women’s Day thinks there are, but I expect more from the Floss.

  9. Re: Millionaire: Got to the $1M question, but bombed it. Here it is: Who wrote “Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be”? A. W.H. Auden; B. Robert Browning; C. John Donne; D. William Wordsworth

I guessed D, which was wrong. Google taught me that it was B. So close!!

  10. I ran the Millionaire questions, but then again, I’m a former Jeopardy! champ, so….
